Evey Wren

So Blake and I are officially a mom and a dad!
For the last month, I have been in and out of labor. I was admitted to the hosptial at 34 weeks, and then again at 36 weeks. As of October 7, I was 37 weeks. I had been having frequent and powerful contractions all day and night on Thursday and Friday, October 8. Around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, Blake woke up and asked me how I was doing. Almost right when he asked me that question, I felt my water break. So we decided to make a trip to the hospital.

We got to the hospital around 4:30 a.m., and by that time, my contractions were getting really bad. The nurse told me I was almost dilated to a 4. Because my water had broken, they admitted me. My contractions were quickly going from bad to worse. I had been worried about getting an epidural because of the medication I was on, but after a couple of hours, my contractions were so intense the baby's heart rate had dropped to 60 and was in distress. I then was told that an epidural would relax me and help the baby, so I opted for one.

After the epidural, my pregnancy went surprisingly well and quickly. Shortly after the epidural, I dilated to a 7. Two hours later, I dilated to a 10. After that, I pushed for about 15 or 20 minutes, and our little baby Evey came out. She arrived at 10:05 a.m. on Saturday, October 9. So from my water breaking to the baby coming, about 7 hours passed, which was much quicker than I had expected. Evey weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces; she was 20 inches long. She is looking healthy and happy.

I am so happy to be a mom!
